At Impulse Chiropractic, we deal with numerous sports related injuries and conditions across all ages and performance levels.

At Impulse Chiropractic, we deal with numerous sports related injuries and conditions across all ages and performance levels. Our chiropractors are well trained in the specific mechanisms involved in sports injuries as well as having backgrounds participating in high level sports themselves. This helps them gain understanding and perspective of what is involved in playing and training for someone’s chosen sport.

Sports related injuries can vary widely in their severity and type. Some of the common issues that we can help with at Impulse Chiropractic are:

  • Joint/ligament sprains
  • Muscle strains
  • Tendinopathy (Achilles, quadriceps, patella, hamstring, gluteal, rotator cuff, biceps, elbow)
  • Impingement syndromes (shoulder, hip, ankle)
  • Bursitis (shoulder, hip, knee, ankle)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Patellofemoral joint pain
  • Joint hypomobility
  • Joint instability

Sports injuries and conditions can vary between acute, sub-acute and chronic. Treatment and assessment will vary depending on the nature of the injury. In acute injury circumstances, the primary focus is pain management and improving normal function. In the case of chronic or recurrent injuries, these can be more complex. Resolution of chronic injuries often involves a detailed analysis of the individual’s functional movement patterns to determine where the breakdown in biomechanics is occurring to cause this chronic injury.

These chronic cases often respond best to a combination of hands-on manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation and programming.

At Impulse Chiropractic, we use a variety of treatment methods and approaches to treat and manage sports injuries and conditions. We aim to get you back into your sport and at your best as soon as possible! We use a combination of the following to help with your sports injury:

  • Massage and myofascial release techniques
  • Myofascial scrapping
  • Joint manipulation and mobilisation
  • Taping and bracing
  • Dry needling
  • Cupping therapy
  • Sports specific exercise rehabilitation and programming
  • Clinical Pilates
  • Movement analysis and technique retraining
